Sea of Stars Developers cut all ties with YouTube Content Creator Jirard “The Completionist” over Charity Fraud
--
Sabotage Studio, the video game developers behind the critically acclaimed turn-based RPG Sea of Stars, have officially severed all connections with YouTube content creator The Completionist.
This decision follows the exposure by fellow YouTube content creators Mutahar (SomeOrdinaryGamers) and Karl Jobst, who both published multiple in-depth videos presenting damning evidence against Jirard for charity fraud, as well as much more.
The developers released a statement within their official Discord community server regarding the actions that they’ll be taking, announcing an imminent release for a patch that they’ll soon be submitting to Steam, as well as consoles for their game Sea of Stars, confirming the immediate removal of Jirard (The Completionist) from their game.
The decision came to be after the developers diligently monitored the unfolding situation over the past few weeks. Jirard was originally intended to be an in-game character essentially portraying himself, even sharing almost the exact same name within the context of the game.
Something else to note, which helped influence their decision, is that within their Discord statement, they also highlighted their strong commitment to fostering a very positive and optimistic environment that mirrors the essence of their intentions, whether creative or otherwise.
Outside of Sabotage Studio’s swift action, there’s an ironic twist to Jirard’s story regarding the situation and his removal from Sea of Stars. Much like his YouTube tenure of charity streams and events spanning a decade, where he solicited funds from viewers that were allegedly destined for charity donation, in the game, his character is depicted seeking “donations” from players. This has sparked commentary, with some already deeming it ‘an unfortunate gaming cameo in hindsight.’
Below, you can see an in-game screenshot of Sea of Stars where Jirard is seen depicted in the game asking players for donations.
One user on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) jokingly wrote in a post saying ‘I don’t wanna play Sea of Stars because I’m afraid Jirard the Completionist is gonna embezzle my donations.’
With all that said, it’s highly improbable that Jirard will witness his character grace the world of Sea of Stars again, particularly after the revelation of damning evidence presented to millions of viewers on YouTube. It’s also increasingly plausible that Jirard (The Completionist) will soon cease to be as a presence in any way on YouTube.
